Robotic Surgery Now Available at Perpetual Help Medical Center – Las Piñas

The future is here.

Perpetual Help Medical Center – Las Piñas now offers robotic-assisted surgery with the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. This milestone brings another option for minimally invasive surgical care to our patients.

For us, advancing healthcare means combining technology with care that puts patients first. Our robotic surgery program reflects this commitment, while keeping each patient’s needs at the center of every treatment decision.

We are launching with two procedures: robotic cholecystectomy for gallbladder removal and robotic herniorrhaphy for hernia repair. More procedures will follow as we expand the program.

Robotic Surgery

Advanced Technology, Guided by Your Surgeon

Robotic-assisted surgery combines a surgeon’s skills with specialized instruments and a detailed view of the surgical area.

The Da Vinci system allows surgeons to operate through small incisions. It provides a magnified, three-dimensional view and instruments that bend and rotate within the surgical space.

Your surgeon controls the instruments throughout the procedure. The system follows the surgeon’s movements; it does not perform surgery on its own. These features support precise movements during delicate surgical tasks.

Robotic Cholecystectomy: Gallbladder Removal

Gallbladder problems can cause pain and disrupt daily life. For some patients, surgery offers a way to treat the underlying problem.

Robotic cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gallbladder using robotic-assisted techniques. Doctors may recommend it for painful gallstones, gallbladder inflammation, or other conditions that require removal.

During the procedure, the surgeon uses a camera and small instruments to work through small abdominal incisions. The da Vinci system supports the surgeon’s view and control while removing the gallbladder.

Your doctor will review your symptoms, test results, and medical history before recommending an approach.

Robotic Herniorrhaphy: Hernia Repair

A hernia develops when tissue pushes through a weak area in the surrounding muscle or connective tissue. It may cause a visible bulge, discomfort, or pain during everyday activities.

Robotic herniorrhaphy, or robotic-assisted hernia repair, treats this weakened area. The surgeon returns the protruding tissue to its proper position and repairs the opening. Depending on the repair, the surgeon may use surgical mesh to strengthen the area.

Robotic instruments allow the surgeon to work through small incisions while viewing the affected area in detail. The best approach depends on the hernia’s size, location, and complexity, as well as your overall health.

What Can Patients Expect?

For suitable patients, minimally invasive surgery may offer smaller incisions and a shorter recovery than open surgery. However, recovery and pain levels vary.

Robotic-assisted surgery does not guarantee better results than other surgical approaches. Your surgeon will explain the expected benefits, possible risks, and available alternatives for your condition. Like all surgery, it carries risks, including bleeding, infection, and injury to nearby tissues.

A consultation also gives you time to ask practical questions. These may include how to prepare, what recovery involves, and when you can return to work or exercise.

A New Chapter in Surgical Care

The launch of robotic surgery marks another step in PHMC’s commitment to expanding treatment options.

Technology plays an important role, but your care remains personal. Understanding your condition, discussing your choices, and planning your recovery all remain essential parts of the experience.

We begin with gallbladder removal and hernia repair, with more procedures coming soon.
