The Heart and Vascular Institute is equipped with two state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories—the ARTIS Q and the ARTIS Icono, the first in the country. The Artis Q expands precision medicine and supports complex procedures. It speeds up procedures and provides real time verification of the stent positioning while moving the device.

The ARTIS Icono, on the other hand, allows our medical practitioners to perform cardiac angiogram, angioplasty, coiling of the brain and radiologic intervention procedures among others. The new machine can deliver fast, clear and consistent 3D imaging of vital organs of stroke patients. Bleeding can be visualized in a short span of time which is vital in the treatment of stroke cases. This can lead to better patient outcomes in cerebral aneurysms and arteriovenous malformation cases.

Adult Cardiology is the branch of medicine that cares for the heart and blood vessels of adults. It deals with conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart attacks, valve problems, and irregular heartbeats. Adult cardiologists not only treat these problems but also help prevent them by giving advice on healthy habits and, when needed, prescribing medicines to keep the heart strong.

Brain Aneurysm Coiling is a procedure used to treat a weak spot in a blood vessel in the brain, called an aneurysm. Using a thin tube (catheter), the doctor gently places a small, soft metal coil inside the aneurysm. This coil helps block blood flow into the weak area, which can stop bleeding if the aneurysm has already ruptured or prevent it from bleeding in the future. The coil is made of soft platinum and is attached to a fine delivery wire for precise placement.

Interventional cardiology is a specialty that focuses on minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures to diagnose and treat heart and blood vessel conditions. Working with these small tubes allows providers to avoid doing open-heart surgery. This specialty utilizes thin flexible tubes called catheters to access and repair damaged or weakened vessels, narrowed arteries, or other structural heart issues without open-heart surgery.

Liver Cancer Embolization is a minimally invasive treatment that works by blocking the blood flow to liver tumors. Without this blood supply, the tumor loses the oxygen and nutrients it needs to grow. This procedure is often recommended when surgery or other treatments aren’t possible, or as a temporary measure to control the cancer while waiting for a liver transplant.
